Day 2 - Lima
Spent most of the day in the colonial center of Lima, mostly on a walking tour. The guide was excellent, talking about the history, showing us the architecture, etc. I wish I was better at remembering it all! From what he says, Peruvians were generally happy being under Spain, still angry with Chile about the war in the 1800's and generally unhappy with the political situation ever since. We'll see what others say as we continue exploring. Pictures are of colonial buildings, complete with enclosed balconies as in Andalusia. Churches are ornate but not so over the top as in Spain. The guy is making ponche, a sort of eggnog, and selling it to people to go. We didn't get a chance to try it (yet).
Yummy dinner. Especially liked the Causa Brava, shown in the picture. Not entirely sure what it is, but there's fried chicken on top, then the structure with mashed golden potatoes, more chicken cooked differently, avocado, some kind of spicy mayo and I don't know what else but might have to find out.
