Day 5 - Lima
Met the local guide and group for the OAT pre-trip. We started with a walking tour of the section of Miraflores along the clifftops above the beach--an area we hadn't previously explored. Beautiful, especially with the cooperative weather. The mosaics in Love Park were apparently inspired by Gaudi.
Then to Pachacamac, a huge site of pre-Incan & (finally) Incan ruins. This was a big center for worship for a succesion of different peoples. The one we saw yesterday was a small center used by the Lima--the first group. They developed the technique of vertical bricks to help their structures withstand earthquakes. At Pachacamac, you mostly see other styles that were built on top of the Lima structures. The photo shows part of the Inca Trail.
Yummy dinner--lomo saltado, ceviche (even better than last night), some kind of scallop appetizer, and more.
